TOURETTE’S SYNDROME

A nervous system disorder involving repetitive movements or unwanted sounds.

Tourette syndrome usually starts in childhood and involves uncontrollable repetitive movements or unwanted sounds (tics), such as repeatedly blinking the eyes, shrugging shoulders, or in rare cases blurting out offensive words.

Treatment is a multi-disciplinary approach to care with cognitive behavioral therapy, stress reduction management and possible medication to manage symptoms.
